2009 Queensland Truck & Machinery Show/Brisbane Truck Show, Australia
The Queensland Truck and Machinery show is the biggest new truck show held in the southern hemisphere. Now in its 41st year the truck show is run every two years by the non profit Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland. Australia has around 450,000 heavy vehicles registered with manufacturers from North America, Europe and Japan all competing for market share.
In 2009 truck of the show was awarded to Western Star's 69FXC road train prime mover. Others attractions included a massive Kenworth C540, Andrew Creswick's immaculate Prime Time T908, Truckworks Star Hooker and Mackay's Towing Batman wreckers featuring superb artwork. The 2800hp Bandag Bullet drag truck was on hand with two nitrous oxide fuelled 8V92 Detroit engines, two superchargers and four turbo chargers. Helping Scania celebrate 40 years of V8 truck engines was Sven-Erik Bergendahl and his fantastic convertible V8 Scania with transparent floor panels. This 1000hp custom creation has over 3000 man hours invested in the bodywork and paint alone. Any country clothing requirements were handled in style by the RM Williams Longhorn Express Western Star and its mobile store. In the alternative fuel department Kenworth rolled out a LNG powered T908 and Volvo displayed their hybrid diesel electric system for heavy trucks. See photo gallery below. |
